was
only 2 years old when she was diagnosed with medulloblastoma --
a malignant brain tumor that forms from primitive or poorly developed
cells at a very early stage of life. Medulloblastomas are usually
found in children, particularly between the ages of three and
eight. They make up about 20% of all childhood brain tumors.
Long-term survival is rare but not impossible.
Fiona is now a happy 3 year old, despite 14 months of brain surgery,
chemotherapy and radiation therapy to keep her tumor-free.
Such a battle should never be waged by one so young and small
-- but surrounded by the love and hope of her family and friends,
Fiona has already beaten the odds.
Why A Web Site?
- To
create an emotional support network.
During times of trouble it's nice to know that there
are people in the world who are ready to offer their kindness,
friendship and prayers. Please be sure to stop by the message
board and leave a note with your thoughts.
- To
stay up to date with Fiona's progress.
Fiona has many family members and friends all over the world
who anxiously await the latest news of Fiona's treatments.
This site will include periodic updates from Ger and Maureen as
often as is practical, and feature recent photos
of Fiona and her family.
